Honorable Mention Story of the Year - Athlete signings galore

In leading up to the official start of the 2018-19 athletics campaign at Irvine Valley, which starts on Aug. 25 with the IVC men's soccer team at Yavapai, the Laser athletic department will count down the top 10 IVC sports stories from the 2017-18 school year.

Honorable mention on the list was the impressive number of Irvine Valley student-athletes that signed to continue their athletic and academic careers at four-year universities and colleges. The women's basketball and women's volleyball team led the way with five players each from 2017-18 teams signing. The men's volleyball team also had five players move on, including three from its 2017-18 squad.

For women's volleyball, which went undefeated and won a CCCAA State Championship, Olivia Aguilar signed with Cal State San Marcos, Diamond Brogan signed with Cumberland, Taira Ka'awaloa signed with Hawaii Hilo, Gabi Lau signed with Western New Mexico and Megan Ramseyer signed with Butler.

And for women's basketball, which won an Orange Empire Conference title and made the state tournament, Mary Dishoian signed with La Verne, Elizabeth Garcia and Jenna Rodriguez signed with Ottawa, Kasey Smit signed with Cal Poly Pomona and Kiara Warren signed with Cal Maritime.
