Women's volleyball takes on Saddleback Wednesday at home

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team moved eight spots this week and is ranked No. 8 in the state.

Irvine Valley is riding a two-match win strea.

The Lasers have a record of 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the Orange Empire Conference.

Irvine Valley went on the road and defeated Santa Ana, 25-13, 25-10, 25-13 last Friday.

The Lasers hit .286 as a team in the contest. Sophomore opposite Ava Guenther finished with 12 kills, four aces, seven digs and two blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Avery Bennett added nine kills and hit .667 for IVC.

Sophomore middle blocker Natalia Brandlin ended with six kills and five digs, sophomore setter Mia Bertolone had 37 assists and 12 digs and freshman libero Audrey Fowler contributed 17 digs for the Lasers.

Sophomore outside hitter Tessa Marocco ranks second in the conference in kills at 4.07 per set, Brandlin is first in the OEC at blocks per set at 1.31 and third in hitting percentage at .385, Bertolone ranks first in assists at 11.09 per set and Fowler is first in the conference in digs at 4.50 per set.

Saddleback has a record of 7-2 overall and is 3-0 and in first place in the OEC.

The Bobcats swept Santiago Canyon at home last Friday, 25-9, 25-21, 25-10.

Stila Fresenius finished with 23 kills in 31 attempts to lead the Bobcats. She also had eight digs.

Olivia Gonzalez ended with 34 assists and Bryn Craig-Kromm had five aces.

On the year, Fresenius leads the conference in kills per set at 5.60 per set.

She is also second in hitting percentage in the conference at .415 and fourth in digs per set at 3.28. Gonzalez is second in the conference in assists per set at 10.08.
