
Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team went on the road and recorded its second sweep in a row to start the 2023 season.
After beating Canyons in three sets last Friday to open the year, Irvine Valley took down Mt. SAC, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21.
Irvine Valley jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the first set. The set was tied at 17 before Irvine Valley pulled away.
In the second set, Mt. SAC took a 16-14 lead, but the Lasers went on a 8-1 run to take control. The run was highlighted by four kills from sophomore outside hitter Tessa Marocco.
The third set was back and forth until Irvine Valley took a 23-20 advantage.
The Lasers closed out the match with a kill and then attack error by the Mounties.
IVC was led by Marocco with 19 kills and 15 digs.
Sophomore middle blocker Natalia Brandlin had six kills, four block assists and two digs and sophomore setter Mia Bertolone contributed 32 assists and 11 digs.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, hosting unbeaten Moorpark at 2 p.m.
