Women's volleyball team stays unbeaten with sweep at OCC

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the state, moved within one win of recording a perfect regular season after sweeping at Orange Coast on Friday night.

The Lasers improved their record to 18-0 overall and 14-0 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 25-14, 25-22, 227-25 victory.

IVC, which has now won 45 matches in a row dating back to the start of 2017 finishes this regular season next Wednesday against No. 14 Cypress.

Irvine Valley got a special performance from freshman outside hitter Lea Kruse on Friday to lead the way. She finished with 20 kills, hit .472 and added seven digs.

The middles also did well again for IVC.

Freshman middle blocker Kristin Austin ended with six kills, hit .625 and had four blocks, sophomore middle blocker Kylie Miller had six kills and one block and sophomore middle blocker Jacqueline Wolfe contributed five kills and two blocks.

Irvine Valley got 14 digs from sophomore libero Renata Bath and freshman setter Truth Hafey ended the night with 39 assists and five digs. Irvine Valley hit .323 as a team on the night.
