There was no need for a comeback by the Irvine Valley women's volleyball team on Wednesday night at Saddleback.
The Lasers had to rally from two sets down to beat Cypress in a five-set thriller last Friday at home.
But they had one of their better performances of the season to sweep at Saddleback, 25-12, 25-8, 25-20, in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Irvine Valley, which has been ranked No. 1 in the state all season, improved its record to 13-0 overall and 9-0 in the Orange Empire Conference.
It was the team's 11th sweep of the year. The Lasers have dropped just four sets overall this season (39-4 in sets).
IVC has now won 40 straight matches dating back to the start of the 2017 season.
Irvine Valley hit .424 on the night as a team. It was the fifth time that IVC has topped the .400 hitting percentage mark in a match. It's .424 was the second best of the year - behind only hitting .433 in a sweep at Santa Ana on Sept. 26.
Freshman outside hitter Lea Kruse led with 12 kills. She also hit .391.
Freshman middle blocker Kristin Austin finished with eight kills, three blocks and hit .636, sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni added five kills and three aces, freshman outside hitter Alaina Gendale had five kills, eight digs and hit .714 and sophomore middle blocker Kylie Miller ended with four kills, five blocks and hit .500.
Sophomore libero Renata Bath contributed seven digs and freshman setter Truth Hafey ended the night with 27 assists, six digs and two aces.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday night at home against Golden West at 6 p.m.
It is the program's annual Dig Pink Night, supporting the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer awareness and treatment.
Admission price is $5 and includes a raffle ticket for prizes that will be given out throughout the match.
