The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the state for the second straight week, hosts No. 17 Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference match on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Lasers moved to 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in conference with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-17 win at Golden West on Wednesday.
IVC has won 33 straight matches dating back to 2016 and has not lost a set yet this season.
Freshman outside hitter Alaina Gendale was a standout Wednesday, finishing with a team-high 11 kills.
Irvine Valley had five players with at least six kills on the night.
Freshman outside hitter Gabriela Griego added nine kills and hit .471, sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni had nine kills and hit .409, freshman middle blocker Kristin Austin ended with six kills and hit .625 and sophomore middle blocker Kylie Miller had six kills and hit .417.
The Lasers hit .398 as a team.
Freshman setter Truth Hafey ran the offense with 35 assists. She also chipped in two kills, eight digs and three aces.
Miller led the team with four aces as IVC racked up 11 aces in the match.
Sophomore libero Renata Bath contributed 12 digs and freshman defensive specialist Anna Unke also had 12 digs.
Griego ranks fourth in the conference at 3.11 kills per set. She is also first in the OEC in hitting percentage at .373.
Freshman outside hitter Lea Kruse ranks third in hitting percentage at .346 and sixth in kills per set at 3.07, Vortouni is fourth in hitting percentage at .333 and ninth in kills per set at 2.72. Hafey leads the conference in assists at 11.0 per set.
IVC is hitting .374 as a team on the year.
Fullerton is off to a 6-2 overall record and 1-1 conference mark under new head coach Megan Glennie.
The Hornets were also ranked No. 17 in the state in this week's CCCWVCA poll.
Fullerton defeated Santa Ana in four sets in its first OEC match last Friday at home, but fell at Saddleback, 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-19 on the road Wednesday.
The Hornets are led by returning all-conference setter Kailyn Case, who is averaging 7.86 assists, 1.28 kills and 2.21 digs per set.
Amanda Henderson averages 3.88 kills per set, which ranks second in the OEC and Carlie Ortega is averaging 3.48 digs per set.
The Hornets are hitting .206 as a team on the year.
