A perfect 10 for the women's volleyball team after sweep

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team picked up its 10th victory of the season with another sweep Wednesday night on the road.

The Lasers, ranked No. 2 in the state and first in Southern California, handed Golden West its first loss in Orange Empire Conference play.

Irvine Valley won, 25-20, 25-19, 25-14, to run its record to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Golden West had its record fall to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in conference.

The sweep was Irvine Valley's eighth of the season. The Lasers have dropped just three sets all year.

Irvine Valley got 15 kills each from sophomore outside hitters Olivia Aguilar and Taira Ka'awaloa in the win on Wednesday. Aguilar also had seven digs and two aces, while Ka'awaloa finished with six digs.

Freshman outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni added five kills and two blocks, freshman middle blocker Alma Entesari contributed four blocks and two aces, sophomore libero Gabi Lau had 10 digs, freshman defensive specialist Renata Bath ended with four digs and sophomore setter Megan Ramseyer chipped in 33 assists, three digs and three aces in the win.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, hosting Fullerton at 6 p.m. in a conference match. Fullerton dropped a four-set contest to Saddleback on Wednesday.
