Women's volleyball team takes care of Tigers on the road

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team remained just one of two teams in the state with an undefeated record after sweeping Riverside in three sets on Wednesday night on the road.

The Lasers, ranked No. 2 in the state and first in Southern California, won, 25-13, 25-11, 25-19.

The victory improved Irvine Valley's record to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in conference.

The win was Irvine Valley's seventh sweep of the season and fifth in a row.

Irvine Valley hit .349 on the night. The Lasers got 15 kills from sophomore outside hitter Olivia Aguilar to lead the way. She hit .467.

Sophomore outside hitter Taira Ka'awaloa added eight kills and 11 digs, sophomore opposite Diamond Brogan chipped in six kills, freshman outside hitter Alyssa Vortouni had five kills, hit .545 and added four aces and freshman middle blocker Alma Entesari finished with four kills and two aces.

Sophomore libero Gabi Lau had another solid match with 10 digs, freshman defensive specialist Renata Bath contributed six digs and sophomore standout setter Megan Ramseyer ran the offense with 31 assists.

Ramseyer also had three kills, seven digs and two aces in the win.

Irvine Valley has a key conference match on Friday night, hosting Saddleback at 6 p.m. Saddleback has a record of 8-4 overall and 1-0 in conference. The Gauchos, who are ranked 14th in the state and eighth in So. Cal. pulled off a big win, sweeping No. 4 Grossmont on the road on Wednesday in a nonconference match-up.
