Women's volleyball team bounces back with win at Fullerton

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team bounced back from a tough loss to Golden West with a four-set Orange Empire Conference win at Fullerton on Monday night on the road.

Irvine Valley came out on top, 25-20, 25-14, 26-28, 25-19.

The Lasers, who are ranked No. 24 in the state, improved their record to 12-6 overall and 10-5 in the Orange Empire Conference.

IVC remained in fifth place in the conference standings, but could move up to fourth in the next week. Fourth-place Riverside still has a match against conference leading Cypress and two matches with third-place Saddleback.

The Lasers host Santa Ana on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in their final match of the OEC schedule.

On Monday night at Fullerton, Irvine Valley hit .281 to Fullerton's .149.

The Lasers got 13 kills each from sophomore outside hitter Lucee Fitzgerald and freshman outside hitter Taira Ka'awaloa. Ka'awaloa also had a team-high 15 digs.

Freshman right side Diamonique Brogan continued her solid play with 11 kills and freshman middle blocker Kylie Miller had six kills and a team-high five aces.

Sophomore setter Alissa Blevins had 28 assists and 13 digs and sophomore libero Taylor Askins contributed 20 digs for the Lasers.
