Women's volleyball team has easy time at Santa Ana

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team swept at Santa Ana, 25-12, 25-18, 25-6, on Wednesday night in an Orange Empire Conference match.

The Lases won their 17th straight match this season and improved their record to 17-0 overall and 11-0 in conference.

IVC hit .456 as a team and got 10 kills and 10 digs from sophomore captain Marisa Doran to lead the way. She also hit .571 on the night with three aces.

Sophomore captain Kobi Pekich recorded eight kills and hit .417.

Freshman Juju Cannon finished with seven kills and four digs, freshman Hannah Matt had five kills and two blocks and hit .625 and sophomore All-American Annie Mitchem had five kills in the win.

Sophomore setter Hailey Jones ran the offense with 33 assists.

It was IVC's 15th sweep of the season.

Mitchem leads the state in hitting percentage at .536. She is second in the conference in kills at 4.16 per set and second in blocks at 1.18. Mitchem also averages 2.61 digs.

Jones leads the conference and is second in the state in assists at 11.26 per set.

Doran is fourth in kills per set at 3.42 and averages 2.58 digs.

Cannon averages 2.09 kills per set, Pekich is averaging 1.80 kills per set and Shaelyn Perez averages 1.62 kills per set.

IVC plays host to Saddleback on Friday at 6 p.m.
