Women's volleyball team keeps streak going against Saddleback

Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team had no problem in recording its 11th straight win of the season.

The Lasers, ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 1 in Southern California, swept district rival Saddleback, 25-10, 25-7, 25-12, Wednesday night at Saddleback.

IVC improved its record to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in conference.

It was the Lasers' 10th straight three-set sweep of the year.

Players contributed all around for IVC in the win.

Freshman opposite Juju Cannon ended with a team-high eight kills. Her eight kills came in nine swings with no errors for a .889 hitting percentage. Cannon also contributed four blocks, one ace and one assist.

Sophomore outside hitter Marisa Doran had seven kills, five digs and one ace and hit .545 on the night.

The Lasers have hit at least .400 as a team in five matches this season and the last three contests in a row.

IVC will try to keep it going on Friday against a tough Cypress team at 6 p.m. at home.

Cypress is ranked No. 6 in the state and fourth in Southern California. The Chargers swept Riverside on Wednesday night on the road and moved up to a tie for second place in the conference standings after previously unbeaten Orange Coast to Golden West on Wednesday.

IVC leads the conference at 4-0 and Cypress and Orange Coast are tied for second at 3-1.

After facing Cypress on Friday, Irvine Valley plays at Orange Coast and Fullerton next week.
