Women's tennis team finishes strong to beat Fullerton

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team won its second straight match in Orange Empire Conference play, beating Fullerton, 6-3, at home on Thursday.

The Lasers came through in the doubles portion of the match to earn the overall victory.

In singles play, each squad won three matches. Irvine Valley picked up wins from freshman Sabrina Mendy at the No. 2 position, freshman Ashley Le at No. 3 singles and Ariyana Ash at the No. 4 spot.

Mendy and Ash each won, 6-1, 6-1, and Le came out on top, 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles, IVC sealed things.

Irvine Valley's top team of sophomore Alla Alajeely and Le defeated Yu Seung Suh and Alexu Lombera, 8-3.

And Irvine Valley's No. 2 team of Mendy and freshman Alaina Spearman and freshmen Brigget Lee and Ariyana Ash each won by the score of 8-3.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference.

The Lasers play again next Tuesday in a big OEC match against Riverside at home at 2 p.m.
