
Irvine Valley's women's tennis team evened its record in the Orange Empire Conference with a 9-0 win over Cypress at home on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lasers picked up their second win of the season and improved their record to 2-3 overall.
Irvine Valley won two of the three doubles matches that were played with the No. 1 team of sophomore Halla Alajeely and freshman Ashley Le defeated Ashley Garcia and Ally Soriano, 8-2, and the No. 2 team of freshmen Alaina Spearman and Sabrina Mendy beating Shannon Beaver and Angelica Palomares, 8-2.
Irvine Valley received a default at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Alajeely won easily at the top spot, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Brigget Lee also won, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles for the Lasers.
Mendy dropped just two games at second singles, Le gave up just three games on the third court and freshman Ariyana Ash won, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.
Spearman won by default at No. 6 singles for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday, hosting Fullerton at 2 p.m. in a conference match.
