Irvine Valley's women's tennis team won five of six singles matches to storm back for a 6-3 victory over El Camino in a nonconference match on Tuesday at El Camino.
It was the squad's first win of the 2019 season and improved its record to 1-2 on the year.
Irvine Valley dropped two of three doubles sets to start.
The Lasers did earn a doubles victory from the No. 3 team of freshmen Brigget Lee and Ariyana Ash, but still trailed, 2-1, heading into singles competition.
Irvine Valley picked it up from there, getting singles wins – all in straight sets - from sophomore Halla Alajeely at the No. 1 position, freshman Sabrina Mendy at No. 2 singles, freshman Alaina Spearman at the No. 3 spot, Lee at No. 4 and Ash at No. 5 singles.
Mendy won, 6-0, 6-0, and Alajeely only dropped one game in her victory.
Irvine Valley will now open Orange Empire Conference play with a home match on Thursday against Orange Coast at 2 p.m.
