Women's tennis player Fiorella Dreux signs with Shorter

Irvine Valley sophomore women's tennis player Fiorella Dreux has signed with NCAA Division II Shorter University in Rome, Ga.

Dreux has been part of two of the best seasons in Irvine Valley program history in 2017 and 2018.

She helped lead the Lasers to the playoffs both years and to an Orange Empire Conference title in 2017. It was just the second conference title in program history.

In 2017, the Lasers were ranked No. 1 in Southern California by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for part of the season, made the semifinals of the CCCAA Team Dual Playoffs and ended with a 11-5 overall record.

This year, the squad had a record of 13-4 overall, took second in conference and again made the semifinals of the CCCAA Team Dual Playoffs.

Dreux was named all-conference both seasons in both singles and doubles.

She had a record of 15-1 in singles during the regular season in 2017 season playing mostly at the fourth and fifth position in the lineup.

She was ranked No. 49 in singles in the state as a freshman in 2017.

This year, Dreux finished with a record of 12-2 in singles during the regular season playing primarily at the second or third spot in the lineup. One of those losses was to Ksenia Prokopchuk from Cerritos, who ended up winning the state singles title.

And she went 11-4 in doubles during the regular season with teammate Halla Alajeely at the No. 1 position in the lineup. The duo ended going 3-1 and making the quarterfinals of the state tournament at Ojai.

Dreux, originally from France, is headed to a Shorter squad that finished last season with a record of 5-13 overall.
