Women's tennis team has no problem with Cypress at home

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team bounced back from its first loss in Orange Empire Conference play with an easy win on Thursday afternoon at home.

The Lasers defeated Cypress, 9-0, to improve their record to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.

IVC was ahead, 3-0, in on the scoresheet before the match even started as Cypress had to default matches at the fifth and sixth singles positions and at No. 3 doubles.

In the matches that were played, Laser players had no problems.

Sophomore Fiorella Dreux defeated Ashley Garcia, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.

Freshmen Anna Krechetova and Abigail Perez and sophomore Lauren MacDonnell also won in straight sets in singles for the Lasers.

MacDonnell gave up just one game in her victory.

In doubles, freshman Halla Alajeely and Dreux defeated Garcia and Shannon Beaver, 8-1, at the top position.

IVC's No. 2 team of Krechetova and MacDonnell beat Cypress' Candace Ngai and Lisa Wood, 8-1.

Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday at Fullerton at 2 p.m.
