Women's tennis team cruises in win over Mesa Community College

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team won its second match in a row and improved its record to 4-1 overall with an easy 8-1 win over Mesa Community College of Arizona on Friday morning at home.

The Lasers won five matches in singles in straight sets and also had an easy time in doubles.

Freshman Halla Alajeely won, 6-1, 6-1, over Audra Spargo at No. 1 singles.

Sophomore Fiorella Dreux didn't give up a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cidney Anders at the third spot.

Also cruising to wins were freshman Anna Krechetova (6-1, 6-1) at No. 4 singles, freshman Abigail Perez (6-3, 6-0) at the fifth position and sophomore Lauren MacDonnell (6-0, 6-4) at the sixth spot.

In doubles, Irvine Valley got wins from the teams of Alajeely and Dreux, freshman Ariana Hedayati and Perez and Krechetova and MacDonnell.

Irvine Valley will play again next Thursday when it opens up Orange Empire Conference play at home against Saddleback at 2 p.m.
