Women's tennis team preps for conference with 9-0 victory

Irvine Valley's women's tennis team stayed unbeaten through three matches and prepped for the start of Orange Empire Conference play later this week with an easy 9-0 win over Rio Hondo on Tuesday at home.

The Lasers improved their record to 3-0. They will play defending conference champion Orange Coast on Thursday at home .

On Tuesday, IVC's top three singles players lost a total of three games.

Both sophomore No. 1 player Sarah Mae Garcia and freshman No. 3 player Lorna Morris each won their matches, 6-0, 6-0.

Sophomore No. 2 player Samantha Paz won, 6-3, 6-0.

Irvine Valley also got straight set wins in singles from freshman Lauren MacDonnell at the fifth spot and freshman Lyndsey Van de Water at the sixth position.

Freshman Fiorella Dreux had to win a tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets with Erika Garfas.

In doubles, Irvine Valley got an 8-0 win at the No. 3 position from the team of MacDonnell and Paz.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Garcia and Dreux came out on top, 8-2, and the No. 2 team of sophomore Lou Baize and Morris won, 8-1.
