Irvine Valley's women's tennis team picked up an important Orange Empire Conference victory on Tuesday.
The Lasers defeated rival Saddleback, 7-2, at home.
The win moved Irvine Valley's record to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference.
It also kept IVC in second place in the conference standings.
Irvine Valley suffered its only loss in conference to Riverside, 8-1, last Thursday.
In Tuesday's match, Irvine Valley won five of six singles contests and two of three matches in doubles. IVC clinched the overall win after the singles round.
Picking up wins in singles for the Lasers were sophomores Renee Walton, Ashley Athanas, Marissa Woolsey and Parmida Navabsafavi along with freshman Tiana Cung.
Cung and Navabsafavi were the first off the courts for the Lasers with easy victories in singles.
Walton won, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 1 singles for IVC.
And Woolsey pulled out a three-set, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 match at No. 4 singles that clinched the overall win for IVC.
The Lasers then won doubles matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
The team of Athanas and Woolsey won, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles and the duo of sophomore Ruth Chou and Yamasaki came through with an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday, hosting Orange Coast at 2 p.m.
