
Irvine Valley's women's tennis team beat Cypress for the second time this season and picked up its third win of the year on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lasers earned a 7-2 victory over the Chargers on the road in an Orange Empire Conference match.
IVC also defeated Cypress, 7-2, the first time the two squads met.
Irvine Valley earned the overall victory basically the same way it did the first time - with four of six wins in singles and all three in doubles.
IVC won the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches by default.
Irvine Valley got wins in singles from freshmen Kristina Ebon (No. 3), Christine Yamasaki (No. 4) and Marissa Woolsey (No. 5).
Woolsey won her match, 6-0, 6-0.
Yamasaki gave up just two games and Ebon allowed only four games in victories.
Irvine Valley freshman No. 1 player Renee Walton played tough, but fell to Cyprss' Jessica Cornea, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
IVC freshman No. 2 player Ruth Chou also had a three-set. Melissa Gahungu won, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, Irvine Valley got an 8-6 victory from the No. 1 team of Walton and Ebon.
Yamasaki and Chou won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-9 overall.
The Lasers play again on Thursday, hosting Fullerton at 2 p.m.
