Irvine Valley's women's tennis team couldn't make it close against Saddleback the second time around.
After losing the Gauchos by just one match the first time the two teams played, Irvine Valley fell to Saddleback, 8-1, on Thursday at Saddleback in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Irvine Valley's record slipped to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in conference.
It was Saddleback's fifth straight victory.
The Gauchos won all six singles matches.
Freshman Marissa Woolsey nearly pulled off a victory for IVC at the No. 5 position. She lost in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, to Alayna Monteilh.
Irvine Valley picked up its lone win on the day at No. 2 doubles where the team of freshmen Ruth Chou and Christine Yamasaki won, 8-5.
IVC's No. 3 team of freshman Julia Gotico and sophomore Anna Pham played tough, but lost, 8-5.
Irvine Valley will play again next Tuesday, traveling to Cypress for a 2 p.m. conference match. The Lasers defeated the Chargers, 7-2, the first time the two teams met.
