Women's soccer team wins at Fullerton, 3-0, in OEC match-up

The Irvine Valley women's volleyball team picked up its fifth win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Fullerton, 3-0, in an Orange Empire Conference match on the road.

The Lasers improved their record to 5-11-0 overall and 4-5-0 in conference play.

IVC freshman keeper Sydnee Salamoff earned the shutout for IVC. It was her fifth win of the season and fourth shutout overall.

She made eight saves on the day.

Goals were scored by freshman midfielder Vienna Vargas, freshman forward Natalia Guzman and freshman forward Jocelyn Quinonez for the Lasers.

Vargas put Irvine Valley on the board in the 30th minute when her corner kick bounced off a Fullerton defender and found the back of the net.

The Lasers made it a 2-0 game in the 42nd minute when Guzman scored on a shot from 20 yards out off a pass from Vargas.

Irvine Valley put the match away five minutes into the second half when Quinonez scored on a battle in the box. Guzman was credited with the assist.

IVC plays again on Friday at Orange Coast in a conference match at 3 p.m.
