Maris and Munoz named all-Orange Empire Conference players

Irvine Valley freshman soccer players Leah Maris and Priscilla Munoz were each named to all-Orange Empire Conference teams recently.

Maris played in the midfield and at goalie and Munoz was a midfielder for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley had a tough year, finishing with a record of 1-18-3 overall, but coach Joe Supe said he was proud of the effort of the players, especially Maris and Munoz.

Maris, from Irvine High, played in 13 matches and started 12. She finished with one assist as a player in the midfield.

She also stepped up and became the team's primary goalie in the latter part of the season after injuries.

Maris played nine games in goal, including starting seven contests. She led the team with 35 saves and had a 2.73 goals against average, which led the squad.

Munoz, from Cypress High, was a mainstay on the field for the Lasers, playing in 20 of the team's 22 matches on the year.
