The Irvine Valley women's soccer team ended a tough 2021 campaign, which saw the team practice and play away from home for the year because of construction to facilities, with a 6-0 Orange Empire Conference defeat to Saddleback at the OC Great Park on Friday afternoon.

The Lasers finished the year with a record of 1-18-3 overall and 0-12-2 in conference.

Saddleback, which tied for the OEC title with Cypress, improved to 17-1-2 overall and 11-1-2 in conference.

It was the first conference title in school history for the Bobcats, who are ranked No. 2 in the state.

Saddleback led 2-0 at halftime after Maliyah Medley scored in the 25th minute and Kylie Beu added a goal in the 30th minute for Saddleback.

The Bobcats led, 2-0, at the half and put the match away with four goals in the second half. Saddleback has shut out 18 opponents this season and given up only four goals.

Irvine Valley freshman keeper Leah Maris finished with six saves.
