Alumni report: Yvette Belman honored at Missouri Valley

The Missouri Valley College women's soccer team put five of its student-athletes on the 2019 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.

One Viking was placed on the all-conference first team.

And that player was former Irvine Valley standout Yvette Belman.

Belman earned her first all-conference selection in her career after anchoring a defense that allowed only 1.11 goals per game, and posted five shutouts on the season.

Belman also finished tied for second on the team in assists (4) and third in goals (4) and points (12). She also added three game-winning goals, second-most on the team.

The Missouri Valley women's soccer team finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-5-2, and a conference record of 6-4-1.

The squad fell to Evangel (Mo.) University in the quarterfinal round of the conference, 2-1.

All-Orange Empire Conference Irvine Valley women's sophomore soccer player Yvette Belman has signed with Missouri Valley College.

Belman was a two-year starter for IVC.

She did a little of everything over her two years, playing offense, defense and in the midfield.

Belman tied for the team lead in goals with four and in points with nine in 2017.

She had two goals in Irvine Valley's season-finale match at Norco and played in 21 matches on the year. Belman was named Irvine Valley's offensive player of the year.

Belman also helped Irvine Valley record seven shutouts on the season.

Belman played in 21 games during the 2016 season as a freshman, starting 20 of them. She had one goal and one assist, primarily playing defense.

The Missouri Valley team also had former Lasers Cassie Fuentes and Emily Rodriguez compete for the school this past season.
