Irvine Valley's women's soccer team tried to rally late, but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss to LA Harbor at home on Tuesday at home.

The defeat dropped Irvine Valley's record to 1-2-0 overall.

LA Harbor stayed unbeaten at 2-0-0.

"We had ups and downs today," IVC coach Joe Supe said. "I thought we did a lot of good things and I was impressed with the work from players like Amanda Kutcher, Sachi Singh and Sheida Suazo. But we gave up a couple of soft goals and it cost us. We have to cut down on the mistakes and keep improving."

The Seahawks got on the board first, scoring in the 28th minute. Adriana Rivero finished off of a corner kick play.

The Lasers had some chances in the opening half, getting opportunities from sophomore midfielder Diana Lugo and freshman defender Amanda Kutcher and sophomore defender Natalie Tucker.

Kutcher's free kick attempt went just over the crossbar.

The Lasers found the back of the net with just under five minutes left in the opening half.

Sophomore defender Natalie Tucker sent a shot in on goal that the Harbor keeper couldn't handle. Sophomore midfielder Giselle Garcia was in the right spot to score and tie the game at, 1-1.

But Harbor took the lead right back midway through the second half when Crystal Marquez knocked in a ball off a free kick from Yarellie Galindo to make it 2-1.

And the Seahawks extended their advantage with four minutes left in the contest when Rivero scored her second goal of the game.

IVC battled to the finish and got within a goal when Kutcher took advantage of a LA Harbor turnover in its defensive end and then beat the keeper with a long shot in the 88th minute.

But Irvine Valley ran out of time and came up a goal short.

Freshman goalie Katelyn Faber made three saves in the first half and sophomore keeper Heather Miller recorded four saves in the second half for Irvine Valley.

The Lasers play again on Friday, taking on Norco at 4 p.m. at home.
