Women's soccer team falls to district rival Saddleback

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team fell to inner-district rival Saddleback, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference match on Tuesday at the Great Park in Irvine. 

Irvine Valley will play its final contest of the regular season on Friday at home against Santiago Canyon at 3 p.m.

The Lasers had some chances to get on the board in the game, but goals were tough to come by once again. IVC hit the post with two shots.

Saddleback scored the opening goal of the game when Caitlin Dolan found the back of the net, unassisted, in the 20th minute. 

Saddleback added an insurance goal in the 50th minute when Natally Gomez fed Kenya Salgado for her second goal of the season. 

Irvine Valley freshman keeper Bryanna Esparza finished with seven saves in goal.

Saddleback goalkeeper Nina Ferreira played made two saves.

Sophomore midfielder Heaven Hernandez took three shots in the game and sophomore defender Savanna Hayes took two shots. Both were on goal.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 3-9-7 overall and 1-8-6 in conference, while Saddleback improved to 8-6-5 overall and 5-6-4 in conference.
