Irvine Valley's women's soccer team couldn't get untracked in a 1-0 loss to Golden West in an Orange Empire Conference match on Friday at home.

The Lasers are still looking for their first win in conference.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 2-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in OEC action. Golden West improved to 4-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference.

IVC took six shots in the contest, including only two in the second half.

Freshman midfielder Nancy Hernandez had a free kick from outside the box saved by Golden West keeper Emma Leanos in the 39th minute.

The game was tied at the half.

Golden West scored the game-winner in the 69th minute. Breanna Sandoval sent a ball from left to right that Rachel McClure ran on to and chipped over IVC freshman keeper Heather Miller and into the net.

Irvine Valley tried to pressure, but didn't have any great opportunities the rest of the way.

Freshman Bryana Esparza started in goal in the first half for the Lasers and made one save. Miller made one save in the second half for IVC.

Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday at Orange Coast at 3 p.m. in another conference contest.
