Women's soccer player Yvette Belman signs with Missouri Valley

All-Orange Empire Conference Irvine Valley women's sophomore soccer player Yvette Belman has signed with Missouri Valley College.

Missouri Valley is an NAIA school in Marshall, Mo.

Belman was a two-year starter for IVC.

She did a little of everything for the Lasers this past season, playing offense, defense and in the midfield. She even spent part of one match in goal.

Belman tied for the team lead in goals with four and in points with nine.

She had two goals in Irvine Valley's season-finale match at Norco and played in 21 matches on the year. Belman was named her team's offensive player of the year.

Belman also helped Irvine Valley record seven shutouts on the season.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 3-12-7 overall and 3-7-6 in conference action.

But the Lasers were competitive. They dropped seven matches by one goal. IVC did earn ties against the top-two teams in the conference - Santiago Canyon and Cypress.

Belman played in 21 games during the 2016 season as a freshman, starting 20 of them. She had one goal and one assist, primarily playing defense.

The former San Juan Hills High player is headed to a Missouri Valley team that is filled with former Lasers on the roster.

She will become the fifth IVC player on the roster. Rosa Soto-Aleman, Evelyn Lucatero, Marissa Perez and Payton Purcell were all completed their junior seasons with the Vikings this past fall.

Perez was chosen first team all-conference and second team all-region and Lucatero was picked as a second team all-conference player after helping Missouri Valley end with a record of 11-7-1 overall.
