Women's soccer team honors 2017 players at banquet

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team held its end of the year banquet for the 2017 season last week.

The Lasers finished with a record of 3-12-7 overall and were 3-7-6 in Orange Empire Conference action.

IVC coach Joe Supe and staff handed out several awards.

Freshman defender Savanna Hayes was named the team's most valuable player. 

Hayes scored two goals on the season and helped IVC to seven shutouts on the season. She started all 22 games for IVC. 

The top defensive player award went to freshman Angela Hernandez. Hernandez was also another standout on the backline and finished with one goal and two assists. She played and started in 21 of the team's contests.

Sophomore midfielder/defender Yvette Belman was named most offensive player and the coaches award went to sophomore midfielder Catherine Pineda.

Belman played in 21 games and had four goals, which was a team, high and one assist. She finished with nine points, which tied for the team lead.

Pineda played in all 22 games and started 17 contests and worked as hard as anyone on the IVC roster throughout the season.

Hayes and Belman were also picked first team all-Orange Empire Conference with Hernandez and Pineda selected as second-team players.
