Irvine Valley's women's soccer team won two matches and tied another to start the month of October.
But the Lasers have hit a rough patch since.
IVC dropped its third straight match and were shutout for the fourth contest in row in a 2-0 Orange Empire Conference loss to Orange Coast on a hot and windy day at home on Tuesday afternoon.
The defeat moved Irvine Valley's record to 2-10-5 overall and 2-5-4 in conference play. Orange Coast, which stayed in fourth place in the OEC standings, improved to 8-4-4 overall and 6-3-2 in conference.
Irvine Valley took five of the first seven shots of the game.
Sophomore defender Yvette Belman sent in a corner kick that OCC keeper Aliso Harlow had to leap and tuck away.
Freshman defender Angela Hernandez hit a hard free kick from nearly 40 yards out that Harlow dove to knock to the side in the 23rd minute.
Freshman midfielder Heaven Hernandez followed with a shot that went over the goal two minutes later.
Orange Coast found the back of the net first, however.
Tiffany Chantler took a pass from Ciara Brennan and was able to get around IVC freshman goalie Marissa Banos near the top of the box and then roll the ball into the goal with a left-footed shot in the 28th minute.
Chantler nearly scored again after taking a through ball early in the second half, but IVC freshman defender Savanna Hayes was able to catch up on the play and toe the ball away.
And Chantler chipped Banos several minutes later, but her attempt went wide of the goal.
IVC continued to pressure and had two different opportunities with loose balls in the box, but weren't ever able to get good shots on goal.
Orange Coast put the match out away in the 87th minute when Madison Crowley scored on a long left-footed shot.
Banos ended up making five saves on the afternoon with Harlow making seven saves.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday in another conference match at Santa Ana at 3 p.m.
