Irvine Valley sophomore women's soccer player Alexandra Benedict has signed with NAIA William Penn University in Iowa.

Benedict was a two-year player and starter for the Lasers.

She was one of the top goal scorers in the Orange Empire Conference this past season.

Benedict led Irvine Valley with 14 goals during the 2016 season last fall.

She ended up fourth in the conference in goals and fifth in points with 30.

Benedict had a four-goal game at San Diego City on Sept. 2 in a 6-1 Irvine Valley victory and scored two goals at MiraCosta on Sept. 6 in a 3-2 Laser win.

She also finished with three game-winning goals.

Benedict was named second team all-conference at the end year. She was also named Irvine Valley's offensive player of the year.

Irvine Valley finished with a record of 7-8-6 overall and was 5-7-5 in conference. The Lasers took fifth place in the OEC.

During her freshman year in 2015, Benedict finished with three goals.

She is headed to a William Penn team that ended this past season with a record of 7-10-1 overall.

William Penn's seven overall wins tied for the most since 2005, while its four league wins were the most since that 2005 campaign.
