Irvine Valley's women's soccer team continued its rough, early Orange Empire Conference schedule on Tuesday at Orange Coast.

The Lasers, who have played the top four teams from last year's standings during their first five matches in conference, fell to a tough OCC squad, 6-2.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 3-4-3 overall and 1-3-1 in conference. Orange Coast improved to 6-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in conference.

Sydnee Busby had two goals for the Pirates, while single goals were contributed by Jordan Moore, Aileen Ortiz, Shelle Zito and Lupe Rodriguez.

For the Lasers, sophomore midfielder Danielle Lefebvre had both goals, while assists were turned in by sophomore midfielder Vanessa Gonzalez and sophomore forward Alexandra Benedict.

Coast wasted no time to take control of things when Busby took a nice feed from Zito and buried the first shot of the match into the back of the net in the fourth minute.

Busby's second of the afternoon (off an assist by Moore) made it 2-0 in the 14th minute, but just three minutes later, IVC cut the deficit in half when Lefebvre took advantage of a defensive miscue and scored her first of the match.

The Pirates responded with a pair of goals shortly thereafter and the match was out of reach for the Lasers the rest of the afternoon.

Moore took advantage of an out-of-position goalkeeper and scored from 40-yards out to put OCC up, 3-1, in the 21st minute. Just eight minutes later, Ortiz scored off a corner kick by Samantha Lombardo to put Coast ahead, 4-1.

Second-half goals by Zito and Rodriguez pushed the Pirates' lead up to 6-1 before Lefebvre's second goal of the contest closed out the scoring for the Lasers.

OCC goalkeeper Tara Tellez and IVC sophomore keeper Yesenia Pulido each had five saves.

Irvine Valley returns to action on Friday, hosting Santa Ana in a conference match at 3 p.m.
