Women's soccer team bounces back with a win

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team got back on track with a 3-0 win at Fullerton in an Orange Empire Conference match on Friday afternoon.

The Lasers were coming off a 3-0 loss to Orange Coast at home on Tuesday.

IVC scored all three goals on Friday in the first half and actually in a span of five minutes.

In the 32nd minute, freshman forward Tiana Salazar scored off an assist from freshman midfielder Samantha Mendoza.

Then two minutes later, sophomore forward Yasmin Hart found the back of the net off a pass from freshman defender Shantel Romero.

And in the 37th minute, Romero capped IVC's scoring with a goal off an assist from freshman Celina Chang.

Irvine Valley nearly added to its lead in the second half, but settled for the 3-0 victory.

IVC freshman goalie Shannon Duffy had to make just two saves in goal.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 9-3-2 overall and 6-3-1 in conference.

The Lasers are in fifth place in the conference standings with 16 points, but are just three points out of second place.

Orange Coast is in fourth with 17 points and Cypress and Golden West are tied for second with 19 points. Santiago Canyon is at the top of the table with 22 points.

Irvine Valley has a bye from conference action on Tuesday and plays at Golden West next Friday.
