Women's soccer team shut out by Orange Coast

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team couldn't get anything going against Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday afternoon at IVC.

Orange Coast scored one goal in the first half and two more in the second half to beat the Lasers, 3-0.

Orange Coast moved past Irvine Valley, which was ranked 14th in the state, in the conference standings. IVC was in fourth place and Orange Coast was in sixth heading into the match.

The Pirates took advantage of an IVC mistake to take an early lead.

A pass was intercepted in the Laser defensive end by Danielle Dapello, who took one dribble and then scored.

Orange Coast led, 1-0, at halftime.

The Pirates made it a 2-0 score 14 minutes into the second half. Jordan Bradley intercepted another pass from the IVC defense. She fed Kamille Cawley, who then scored.

And Orange Coast capped the scoring in the 89th minute. Cawley scored her second of the match off a cross from Karla Romero. For Cawley, it was the second straight contest where she had two goals.

OCC goalie Emily Harrier had to make just one save in the match. IVC freshman keeper Shannon Duffy recorded five saves.

The match concluded the first round of conference play for both teams.

IVC opens the second round of the conference schedule on Friday at Fullerton at 3 p.m.
