Golfer Katie Stribling is off to the CCCAA State Championships

Irvine Valley freshman women's golfer Katie Stribling is headed the California Community College State Championships.

Stribling finished fifth individually out of 56 golfers at the South Regional event at Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang Monday.

She ended with a two-day score of 154 to take fifth place. She shot 78 on the first day on Sunday and then 76 on Monday.

The state tournament is on Sunday and Monday, Nov. 11-12 at the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Stribling will have Orange Empire Conference company at the state event.

The Gauchos finished fourth out of nine teams at the regional to take the final spot.

The Gauchos posted a team score of 664 (329-335) over two days, falling from second place to fourth place, but held.

Brittney Do led the Gauchos with a 148 (72-76), finishing third overall.

Fullerton's Eunsoo Jeon posted a two-day score of 156 (75-81), while Mt. San Antonio's Mackenzie Kelly carded a 164 (80-84) to earn the last individual spot from the South Regional into the state championship tournament.

College of the Canyons (603), College of the Desert (647), and Santa Barbara City College (659) are joining Saddleback to represent Southern California at the state championship. 

Four teams and six individual qualifiers from Northern California have yet to be decided.
