Women's golf team goes 7-1 in second conference event

Irvine Valley's women's golf team finished with a record of 7-1 for the second straight Orange Empire Conference match.

The Lasers finished as the second-best team in the second conference event, held at Soboba and hosted by Mt. San Jacinto on Wednesday.

IVC, now with a record of 14-2, ended with a four-player team score of 358.

College of the Desert went undefeated for the second straight match with a score of 316. Fumika Mastumoto of Desert was the medalist with a 3 over par 75.

The third-place team was Mt. San Antonio at 346. Fullerton finished at 349 and Palomar came in at 362 to round out the top five.

Irvine Valley was paced by sophomores Leleaga Meredith and Cindy Dang. Each shot 11 over par rounds of 83 on the Soboba course.

Freshmen Liliana Gutierrez came in with a solid 88 and freshmen Stuti Mandal and Rachel Watson each carded scores of 104 for Irvine Valley.

Irvine Valley will host its lone conference match of the season next Wednesday at Oak Creek Golf Club.
