Dave Coleman
Title: Assistant Coach

Dave Coleman joined Irvine Valley staff prior to the 2011-12 season.

Head coach Julie Hanks said Dave “brings a wealth of knowledge to the staff.”

He played for two years at West Los Angeles Community College after being asked to fill in at practice because four of the players were out sick. “Coach asked if I wanted to play and I ended up playing every minute of every game as a freshman.”

Coleman received a full scholarship to play at UC Riverside after his sophomore season.

His first coaching job actually came in as a senior in high school when he was the coach of the “C” team at Pacific Palisades High. “I knew the game, but wasn’t good enough the make the varsity team. Plus I grew four inches after high school.”

After college, he was an assistant boys coach at Ramona High in Riverside. He also spent four seasons as a CIF official.

Coleman received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from UC Riverside with a minor in business.
