Taryn Guillen is beginning her first season on the women’s basketball staff at Irvine Valley. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Lasers.

Guillen is a graduate of Concordia University in Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science. She also has earned a master's degree in Secondary Education.

Guillen has 11 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level. She has coached at San Clemente High, Dana Hills High and San Juan Hills High. She has also been a Behavior Counselor, working with high school students.

In addition to her duties as an assistant coach at IVC, Guillen will also serve as the athletic equipment manager for women’s sports.

She is very excited to play a vital role in player development and recruiting with the Lasers.

Guillen believes that while athletics can be a valuable teaching tool, at IVC it is secondary to the athlete's academics. And she feels it is the coaches job to not only develop the level of play of the team as a whole, but to also take each individual athlete for who they are and assist them in reaching their full potential.
