Irvine Valley star women's basketball player Jessica Suruor has signed with NCAA Division II Holy Names University in Oakland.

The sophomore guard helped the Lasers to a 26-3 overall record and to a fourth Orange Empire Conference title in a row.

Suruor averaged 15.7 points and shot a team-high 40.3 percent (94 of 233) from three-point range during the 2021-22 season.

Irvine Valley reached the semifinals of the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship.

Irvine Valley was ranked as high as No. 1 in So. Cal. in the final coaches' poll of the regular season. And the Lasers received the No. 2 seed in the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.

IVC fell in the state semifinals to San Joaquin Delta in a close game, 77-74, at West Hills Lemoore in March.

Suruor, out of Esperanza High, has been a standout at IVC since the 2019-20 season.

She averaged 7.4 points in helping Irvine Valley to a conference title in the 2019-20 campaign.

Irvine Valley lost its season in 2020-21 due to the pandemic, but Suruor and the Lasers were ready this past year.

Suruor scored in double figures in 26 of 29 games she played, including nine games with 20 or more points.

She had a season-high 25 points in Irvine Valley's 77-44 victory over LA Trade Tech on Nov. 10, 2021.

And Suruor scored 23 points twice, including in Irvine Valley's final game of the season of the state tournament against Delta. Suruor went 6 of 14 from the field and 5 of 9 from three-point range in that contest.

Suror hit at least four three-pointers in 14 contests this past season, including going a season-high 7 of 10 from beyond three-point range in Irvine Valley's 90-51 victory at Ventura on Dec. 30, 2021.
