Women's basketball team routs Barstow in crossover finale

Irvine Valley wrapped up an exceptional two days in its own crossover event with a 100-35 victory over Barstow Saturday night.

The Lasers, ranked No. 11 in the state, defeated Cerritos by 44 points on Friday and then routed the Vikings by 65.

It was the team's largest margin of victory this season and second most points scored in a contest. IVC defeated Grossmont, 105-50, on Nov. 2.

The two wins improved Irvine Valley's mark to 10-1 on the season.

Irvine Valley finished with 27 assists in the contest, helped Barstow into 47 turnovers and limited the Vikings to just 28.9 percent shooting from the field.

The Lasers, who led from start to finish, also scored 52 points in the paint and got 50 points from its bench in the win.

Twelve players scored for IVC for the second straight night. Five of those hit double figures.

Freshman guard Samantha Uehara led with 20 points. She added five rebounds and four assists.

Freshman guard Morgan Higgins chipped in 14 points, freshman forward Kaitlyn Luu finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists and six steals and freshman guard Danielle Silva contributed 11 points.

And sophomore guard Anai Washington had a solid all-around game with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Barstow, which saw its record fall to 0-7, was paced by Davena Harris' 15 points and three steals.

The Lasers are back in action next Wednesday when they host San Bernardino Valley at 5 p.m.
