Women's basketball team beats Grossmont by 55 points

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team made it two wins in a row to start the season, rolling host Grossmont, 105-50, on Saturday in the Grossmont crossover event.

IVC, ranked No. 7 in So. Cal. in the coaches preseason poll, started the season with a 83-69 win over No. 6 East LA on Friday.

The 55-point victory on Saturday was the program's largest since Feb. 2, 2018 when the Lasers defeated Copper Mountain, 98-33.

Irvine Valley led by 39 points at half (59-20) over Grossmont on its way to the win.

The Lasers shot 46.5 percent (40 of 86) from the field and 38.1 percent (8 of 21) from three-point range in the contest. Irvine Valley also had 25 assists as a team.

Contributions came from all around. Twelve IVC players scored in the game.

Freshman wing Kaitlyn Luu finished with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard Anai Washington added 16 points, 11 rebounds and two steals and sophomore post player Zoe Stachowski had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Freshman forward Alara Ersu finished with 10 points and four rebounds, freshman guard Samantha Uehara had nine points, six rebounds and two steals and freshman guard Jessica Suror ended with eight points and four assists in the win for Irvine Valley.

The Lasers play again on Thursday in the Saddleback Crossover against host Saddleback at 6 p.m.
