Irvine Valley's women's basketball team bounced back from its first loss in Orange Empire Conference play with a 92-75 victory at Orange Coast on Friday night.
The Lasers had their nine-game win streak halted on Wednesday with a 74-58 defeat at OEC rival Cypress.
But the Lasers rallied with a solid performance at OCC.
IVC was led offensively by freshman guard Anai Washington with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman center Zoe Stachowski was limited all night due to foul trouble, but still managed to toss in 20 points and grab nine rebounds.
Sophomore guard Lexi Vail added 17 points, six rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in a strong, all-around effort for the Lasers.
Freshman guard Emma Vasquez contributed nine points and freshman guard Megan Herrera had eight points for IVC.
Jalisa Simons led OCC with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Raelynn Denson added 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Monet Oncu and Nefertiti Van Den Heever each added 12 points for the Pirates.
Irvine Valley led, 29-24, after the first quarter and the Lasers were in front, 53-44, at the half.
But IVC stretched out its lead to 20 points in the third quarter and never looked back. The Lasers limited OCC's Simons to just two points in the second half.
The Lasers did a nice job on the boards, out-rebounding Orange Coast, 54-38. They also had 37 second-chance points to just six for the Pirates. The Lasers' bench also out-scored OCC, 21-5.
Irvine Valley, which was ranked 14th in the state this week, improved its record to 17-4 overall and 7-1 in conference, while OCC fell to 2-16 overall and 2-6 in conference.
The Lasers have two more road games next week. They play at Fullerton on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and then play at Saddleback on Friday at 7 p.m.
