The Irvine Valley women's basketball team continued to dominate in the Orange Empire Conference.
The Lasers, ranked No. 14 in the state, moved to 5-0 in conference and 15-3 overall with an easy 85-56 victory over Copper Mountain on Wednesday night at home.
It was IVC's eighth win in a row overall.
Over those eight wins, Irvine Valley has out-scored opponents, 629-435. Irvine Valley is averaging 78.63 points per game over those eight contests and in conference, the Lasers are averaging 79.0 points per game, while giving up just 56.8 points per contest.
Irvine Valley jumped on Copper Mountain from the start on Wednesday night. The Lasers led, 29-12, after the first quarter and was up, 45-25, at the half.
IVC out-scored the Fighting Cacti, 26-15, in the third quarter to seal the game.
Irvine Valley led by as many as 37 points early in the fourth quarter before winning by 29.
Irvine Valley out-rebounded Copper Mountain, 47-39, and helped force 28 Fighting Cacti turnovers. The Lasers used those miscues to their advantage, scoring 20 points off of Copper Mountain turnovers.
IVC shot 43.0 percent (34 of 79) for the game from the field.
The Lasers got a balanced attack on offense. Freshman guard Anai Washington had 16 points, five rebounds and three assists, freshman center Zoe Stachowski scored 14 points, freshman guard Megan Herrera had 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals and sophomore forward Ryane Bradbury ended with 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Sophomore guard Lexi Vail chipped in eight points, six rebounds, 10 assists and five steals and freshman guard Emma Vasquez had seven points for the Lasers.
Copper Mountain was paced by Chezerae Bogan-Osbey with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks and LeLisa Watson had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday at Santa Ana in a conference game at 7 p.m.
