Irvine Valley's women's volleyball team moved up a spot to seventh in the second 2018 California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Poll.

The Lasers, who are ranked third in Southern California in the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association Poll, have won 10 straight games and lead the Orange Empire Conference standings.

IVC has a record of 19-3 overall and is 8-0 in conference.

Sierra continued its hold on the No. 1 spot in this week's state poll. The top six remained in their positions. The undefeated Wolverines (23-0) received 14 of 17 first-place votes.

This Friday, Feb. 2 is the rubber match and third meeting of the season between No. 2 Mt. San Jacinto as it plays PCAC North rival and No. 3 Palomar.

The biggest move was made by Los Angeles Trade Tech as it climbed to a tie with Fresno City for eighth after being in 12th in the opening poll.

Mt. San Antonio, after a shocking 37-point loss at unranked Pasadena City, dropped out of the top 10 to the 14th placing.

Despite a current state No. 1 RPI, Fresno suffered a tough 10-point loss to No. 5 Merced. The Central Valley Conference boasts three teams in the current top 10 as Sequoias is at No. 4. The South Coast features the most top 20 teams with five, but none higher than Trade Tech.

West Los Angeles sneaks on to the poll for the first time at No. 20 with Moorpark dropping out after being 20th last week.

Irvine Valley defeated Riverside, 77-53, last Wednesday night at home and then beat Saddleback, 83-50, on the road on Friday night.

Irvine Valley has an impressive run going in the Orange Empire Conference. The Lasers have won five games by at least 33 points in conference and seven of their eight games by 23 points or more.

IVC travels to Fullerton for a 5 p.m. game on Wednesday and then hosts Copper Mountain on Friday at 5 p.m.

Sophomore forward Kasey Smit leads the way for IVC, averaging 17.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.

She has games of 34, 26, 30 and 27 points in her last four conference games for the Lasers. Smit has also grabbed an amazing 43 rebounds in the two IVC wins last week.
