Irvine Valley's women's basketball team beat El Camino for a second time this season and moved into the championship game of its own tournament with a solid win on Friday night.
The Lasers, ranked No. 12 in the CCCWBCA South Region Preseason Poll, defeated No. 14 El Camino, 64-45, in a semifinal of the 13th Annual Irvine Valley Tournament.
Irvine Valley moves on to the championship final on Saturday at 4 p.m. where it will take on No. 9 Long Beach City.
IVC last won its own tournament in 2014. Long Beach City will be making its third straight finals appearance, having won in 2015 and finishing as the runner-up last season.
Long Beach City took down Grossmont, 71-41, on Friday to reach this year's championship.
Irvine Valley trailed, 26-23, to El Camino at halftime, but used a big second half to come out on top.
The Lasers out-scored El Camino, 41-19, over the final two quarters for the win.
A night after setting an IVC program record with 24 rebounds in a win over Southwestern, sophomore forward Kasey Smit had another strong performance. She finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds and two assists to help pace the Lasers.
Freshman point guard Cydnie Danan had her second straight productive game with 15 points, three rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Sophomore guard Elizabeth Garcia added nine points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, sophomore forward Kiara Warren had eight points and seven rebounds and freshman guard Lexi Vail chipped in eight points and four assists for IVC.
Irvine Valley shot 35.7 percent (20 of 56) from the field as a team and did a great job on defense in helping limit El Camino to just 29.1 percent (16 of 55) shooting.
IVC was also solid at the free throw line, making 19 of 24 attempts. Vail was 6 for 6, Danan went 5 for 5 and Smit made 4 of 4 from the line.
Irvine Valley also had a big edge on the boards for the second straight night, out-rebounding El Camino, 49-30. IVC had 17 offensive rebounds to nine for the Warriors.
El Camino was paced by Nao Shiota, who finished with 12 points, three assists and four steals before fouling out.
Micaela Enriquez came off the bench with nine points and five rebounds and Amiete Nyingifa added eight points for El Camino, which will play Grossmont in the third-place game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The first contest of the day on Saturday will feature Rio Hondo against Southwestern in the consolation final at 12 p.m.
