Danan, Quirate, Tuttle set to join women's basketball team

Irvine Valley's women's basketball coach Julie Hanks has three standout high school players that have committed to play at Irvine Valley next fall.

Cydnie Danan and Jessica Quirate of Ayala and Grayce Tuttle of Irvine are set to join the Lasers.

Danan and Quirate were two of the leaders of an Ayala squad that finished with a record of 16-13 overall, went 7-3 in the Palomares League for third place and made the CIF playoffs.

Danan, a 5-6 point guard, scored 18 points to help the Bulldogs finish off the regular season with a win over South Hills.

She had 25 points and hit seven three-pointers in a three-point win over Glendora.

Danan also played in the 2017 Inland Valley Basketball Classic in April.

Quirate, a 5-7 guard, had 20 points in Ayala's 75-35 CIF playoff win over Palm Springs.

Tuttle was part of an Irvine squad that had one of its better seasons in several years. The team went 17-9 overall and was 7-3 in the Pacific Coast League and finished third.

The team made the CIF playoffs and won a game.

Tuttle, a forward, averaged 10.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game.

She scored 22 points in Irvine's 73-53 playoff win over Hillcrest and scored a season-high 25 points when the Vaqueros defeated Trabuco Hills, 56-51.

Irvine Valley has made the Southern California Regional Playoff finals two of the last three years.
