Irvine Valley's women's basketball team is one step game away from reaching its first State Championships since the 1998-99 season.
The Lasers will have to go through a tough East Los Angeles squad to do it.
IVC plays at East Los Angeles Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a Southern California Regional Final.
East Los Angeles is seeded second and IVC is the third seed in the regional playoffs.
The other So. Cal. Regional Final features No. 5 Palomar at No. 1 Mt. San Antonio.
The winners of the games will make their way to the CCCAA State Championships next weekend at Cerritos College.
East Los Angeles and Irvine Valley have met once this season already. It came early in the year - just IVC's third contest of the season - in a semifinal of the Saddleback Tournament.

Irvine Valley enters Saturday's re-match with a record of 27-3 overall. The team is also one win away from tying for the most wins in a season in school history. The 1998-99 squad went 28-7.
IVC won the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 12-0.
So far in the playoffs, IVC has defeated No. 14 Cerritos, 58-48, and No. 6 Bakersfield, 71-53.
In the win over Bakersfield, four Irvine Valley players scored in double figures. Casey had 23 points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals to lead the way.
Coleman had 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, sophomore center Breanna Turner finished with 14 points and six rebounds and freshman guard Erika Mercado chipped in 10 points.
Irvine Valley averages 63.8 points per game and gives up just 53.1 points. Opponents are shooting just 33.5 percent from the floor in games against the Lasers this season.
IVC is paced by Turner, who was the Orange Empire Conference MVP this season. She averages 14.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per game, while shooting 52.3 percent from the field.
Casey is averaging 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Coleman averages 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
Brennan is averaging 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists, sophomore guard Kali Kato averages 6.2 points and Mercado is averaging 6.1 points and 2.3 assists per game.
East Los Angeles has a record of 28-3 overall. The Huskies' only losses this season have been to West LA (100-94) and Mt. San Antonio twice (70-66 and 83-72).
East Los Angeles finished second to Mt. SAC in the South Coast Conference North with a 6-2 record.
East LA averages 72.3 points per game and gives up 61.0 points per game.
The Huskies are led by Olivia Ochoa, who is averaging 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.8 steals per game.
