Women's basketball player Taylor Casey signs with Biola

Irvine Valley sophomore women's basketball player Taylor Casey recently signed a letter of intent to play at Biola in the fall.

The 6-0 forward was named second team all-Orange Empire Conference this past season after averaging 10.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Casey scored in double figures in 15 game and topped 20 points three times. She scored a season high 21 points in wins over Cypress and Fullerton.

The former Capistrano Valley High standout also finished her career up at Irvine Valley with a solid effort, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 72-66 loss at Chaffey in the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Irvine Valley finished the 2013-14 season with a record of 18-11 overall.

Casey, who was a two-year starter at Irvine Valley, averaged 7.4 points and 7.4 rebounds as a freshman in 2012-13.

Biola coach Bethany Miller is excited to have Casey join her program.

"Taylor [Casey] is an impact player at the forward position having played two years in a quality college program," Miller said.

Casey, who was a team captain at IVC, plans on studying in elementary education at Biola.

"She has strong work ethic, is extremely bright, and will be a scoring threat and disciplined defender on the court for us," said Miller.
