Women's badminton team has no trouble with San Diego Mesa

Irvine Valley's women's badminton team stayed within striking distance of first place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a 21-0 win over San Diego Mesa on Wednesday at home.

The Lasers improved their record to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in conference with the win.

Irvine Valley is in second place, but just one match behind San Diego City in the standings.

IVC plays at San Diego City next Wednesday.

The Lasers had little trouble against San Diego Mesa. IVC had to go just three sets in two of the 17 matches.

Irvine Valley's top singles player, Jurate Foes, won, 21-8, 21-3, and 21-3, 21-6.

Karen Wang earned 19-21, 21-13, 21-13, and 21-16, 21-4 victories at No. 2 singles for IVC.

Deepthi Rao won, 21-10, 21-15, and 21-12, 21-10, at No. 3 singles.

Jessey Wang (No. 4), Eva Chen (No. 5) and Lushi Luo (No. 6) each won both of their singles matches.

San Diego Mesa defaulted at the No. 6 singles spot.

In doubles, IVC's No. 1 team of Foes and Peihong Jiang won, 21-9, 21-12, and 21-5, 21-4.

The No. 2 team of Karen Wang and Rao came out on top, 21-12, 22-20, and 21-18, 21-13.

And San Diego Mesa defaulted at the No. 3 doubles position.
